Workshop on applied bachelor’s program

From October 31st to November 04th, 2016 at the premises of National Medical College in Almaty there was held a workshop on the theme: “Advanced training of the teaching staff based on the competence-based approach - the 5th term: thesis diploma process of applied bachelor’s program in nursing education”.

Zhanat Sultanova, Eleanora Orazbayeva,the assistants of the Department “Nursing with the course of Anesthesiology and Critical care medicine” and Bagdat Serikova,a teacher,took part in this workshop. The workshop was headed by Sirpa Tuomi, who gave the example of JAMK University - the whole process of thesis writing, its assessment at different levels of nursing education in Finland, including the applied bachelor’s program. She demonstrated the whole process of thesis writing starting with the idea, theme approval and thesis completion. Not only a student, his supervisor and a consultant are involved in thesis writing but also a tutor, groupmates (students);there is a group consulting in the form of seminars, tutoring of a groupmate. 

This workshop is focused on such aspects as: choice of thesis topics, choice of scientific supervisor, introduction in thesis diploma of applied bachelor’s program, thesis’s content and structure, requirements to thesis writing order, presentation and assessment of thesis, rules of doing research, role of scientific supervisor in thesis process, role of associates (fellow students) in thesis, criteria for assessment and assessment itself, systematic search for information in various databases, schedule of seminars. The participants of this workshop developed a guide for scientific supervisors of applied bachelor’s program.
