The Sechenovs are among us

Every year, the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry receives students from Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University for the training and production practice “Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines” within the framework of the Agreement on Cooperation between partner universities.

The plan of the working program of industrial practice included the study of the students by the regulatory documentation regulating the quality control of medicines in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The trainees carried out a complete pharmacopoeia analysis of substances, tablets, capsules, solutions, ointments, and phytopreparations, using modern chemical, physical and physicochemical methods of analysis.

The students first worked on the MP70 melting point system (Switzerland), the Mettler Toledo T50 automatic titrator (Switzerland), the Fourier IR spectrometer Infralum FT-8 (Russia), the SF-2000 spectrophotometer (Russia), Apel PD-303S (Japan) and photometer KFK-3 “30M3” (Russia) to determine the authenticity and quantitative determination of the investigational drugs.

The also worked on a biological microscope “MT 4000/MT 5000 Meiji Techno” with Vision Bio software, which allowed trainees to consolidate the skills of studying the forms and color of crystalline precipitation, the structure of powders, etc.

Vice-rector for strategic cooperation and international relations A.A. Akhmetova noted the advantages of the modern education system, which allows students in academic mobility to be trained on the basis of partner universities. Despite the fact that the Academy is a regional one, it has a highly qualified teaching staff and a strong material and technical base, which allows students from the leading universities of other countries.

S.K. Ordabayeva - the head of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry, noted the terms and results of long-standing friendship with the faculty of the same name of the First Moscow State Medical University. Together, the two chairs developed a working program and a training manual on the production practice “Quality control and Standardization of medicines”, which is planned to be published in English by the Moscow publishing house.

Especially for the guests a tour of the historic sacred places of Central Asia was organized - mausoleums of Arystan Bab and Yassawi, as well as all the sights of our city.

After the end of practice, students shared their impressions, noting the high level of organization of teaching and practical training, equipping Academy of advanced equipment, the possibility of a significant amount of laboratory work.

Trainees expressed their gratitude to the administration of SKSPhA, as well as the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry for the opportunity to consolidate practical skills pharmaceutical analysis at a high quality and professional level. Students expressed a desire to continue this experience in the framework of cooperation between partner universities.
