STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP OF UNIVERSITY CONTINUES

Professor, (PhD), Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology of Gdańsk Medical University (GMU) Krzysztof Waleron and acting professor, (PhD) of interuniversity faculty of biotechnology of Gdańsk University and Gdansk Medical University Malgorzata Waleron visited the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology.

Within the framework of the visit K.Waleron and M.Waleron delivered lecture, conducted seminars on topical issues for students, graduates and faculty staff.

The program of lectures and seminars included such questions: the origin and evolution of resistance to antibiotics; modern vaccines and technologies; prospects of vaccination, molecular diagnostics as a way to personal therapy.

A special interest of the audience was caused by M.Waleron's lecture on the subject: "The edible genus of the cyanobacterium Arthrospira. The current state of cultivation methods of genetics and application in medicine ".

Issues of further cooperation with the partner university in the field of training highly qualified specialists for the pharmaceutical industry, the possibility of developing joint educational programs, research projects, as well as internships for graduates of the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology in Gdańsk Medical University were discussed.

The department expresses its sincere gratitude to the professors K.Waleron and M.Waleron for fruitful work on the exchange of experience and hopes for further cooperation in the field of education and science.
