South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and Xi'an Medical University (China) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
From July 4 to 7, a delegation headed by the Deputy Akim of Shymkent City visited Xi'an. The primary purpose of the visit was to establish comprehensive ties and exchange of experience between the parties following the memorandum of "Mutual Partnership" signed between the cities of Shymkent and Xi'an in the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the China. South Kazakhstan Medical Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Xi'an Medical University (after this, referred to as SMU) to realise the continuity in developing bilateral relations.
SMU is a teaching-oriented tertiary medical institution centred on talent development and coordinated teaching, research, medical care and social services development. Adhering to the concept of open education, SMU has carried out fruitful educational and research exchanges and cooperation with several partner universities abroad. Thus, based on equality and mutual respect, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between SKMA and SMU to develop, promote and strengthen cooperation in education, teaching, research and culture between the two sides. According to the Memorandum, there will be joint scientific research, visits to participate in scientific conferences, forums, workshops, cultural exchanges and more between the two sides. This cooperation is also essential for the Chinese side as part of the global "One Belt, One Way" initiative, which unites the countries where the historic Silk Way passed.
