SCIENTIFIC INTERNSHIP OF A PhD STUDENT AT THE PYATIGORSK MEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL INSTITUTE

From March 27th to April 8th 2023, PhD student of the Department of Pharmacognosy Karzhaubayeva Aishabibi undergo a scientific internship at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Botany and Technology of Phytopreparations of the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute - branch of the Volgograd State Medical University within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute. 

In accordance with the plan of the doctoral student's scientific internship, the following work was performed: familiarization with the laboratory base of the internship (Laboratory of Living Systems), work with scientific and methodological literature in the library of the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute in the direction of dissertation research; work with a scientific consultant to prepare scientific articles on the topic of dissertation research; as well as obtaining extracts from medicinal plant raw materials in accordance with the main internship program in the laboratory of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Botany and Technology of Phytopreparations of the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute and determining their acute and chronic toxicity, as well as pharmacological activity; obtaining advice from a foreign scientific consultant on the main provisions of the dissertation research.

During the scientific internship at the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute, a Week of Science was held at the institute from March 27 to April 1. Many research conferences were organized during the Science Week. The doctoral student made a presentation at the conference "Actual problems of modern Pharmacognosy", dedicated to the memory of the Honored Worker of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Daria Muravyeva. 

The report was compiled based on the results of a study on the topic "Studying the microbiological purity of plants of the genus Saussurea L.". During the conference, the doctoral student was awarded a certificate.

Part of the research work under the program was conducting tests in the laboratory of living systems. Accordingly, the doctoral student took part in the work on conducting tests on mice.
In accordance with the internship program, the doctoral student and his foreign scientific consultant, Professor Dmitry Konovalov, discussed the issues of the doctoral student's dissertation work and discussed further common goals and objectives in scientific activity. Explanatory work was carried out on how to process the results obtained on research papers, as well as on the direction of scientific articles to foreign journals.

The internship provided an opportunity to get acquainted with modern methods of Pharmacognosy. The scientific internship turned out to be very effective and useful for further research activities. During the scientific internship, part of the doctoral dissertation was completed.
