Round table at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Kaunas)

On September 26-28, 2023, a round table was held at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Kaunas) within the framework of the AccelEd project (“Improving nursing at the master’s and PhD doctoral level in the higher education system of Kazakhstan”), co-funded by the EU through Erasmus+ and implementing innovative projects to improve the capacity of teachers and reform higher medical education.
Representatives of the University of Applied Sciences, Abo Academy (Finland), teaching staff and heads of medical universities of Kazakhstan (MUA, MUK, KazNMU, SKMA, School of Medicine of Nazarbayev University) took part in the round table. The team of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy was represented by: Akhmetova Alma Abdukarimovna, Baimbetova Dinara Ashirkhanovna, Seidakhmetova Aizat Ashimkhanovna.
The participants of the event were welcomed by Jūratė Macijauskienė, project coordinator, dean of the Faculty of Nursing, professor of the geriatric department of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Kaunas).

Kazakhstani partners presented reports: “The evolution of nursing science: before/after the AccelEd project.” Seidakhmetova A.A. spoke from the SKMA team on the results of the work done.
A comparative analysis and open discussion of the project results were held at the round table. All participants worked in groups during interactive exchanges of ideas and research, gave reports and the results of discussions. A round table discussion was held about joining JBI organizations, the relevance and advantages of opening a center in Kazakhstan. The issue of open science was raised, participants discussed the opening of a single repository for the development of nursing science in Kazakhstan.
Stina Wallin (ABO), Hanna Hopia (JAMK), (Finland) made a report on the topic: “International perspectives: a comparative view of PhD training in Scandinavia”. Professor Bei Wu from New York shared the experience of research conducted by nursing specialists and the methodology of qualitative research.
Professor Žilvinas Dambrauskas, (LSMU) made a presentation: “Advancing research science in healthcare: transforming evidence into recommendations.”
The project partners discussed issues of shaping the future, ideas and vision for sustainable progress after the completion of the AccelEd project. All participants were awarded certificates.
