PRACTICE OF PHARMACOGNOSY IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
An important part of the preparation of highly qualified pharmacists is the manufacturing practice of students. Considering this fact, the management of our academy offers apprenticeships in different cities around the world, where the most famous pharmaceutical colleges and organizations in order to allow students to deepen their theoretical knowledge and use them in practice. Using this opportunity, the 5th year students, 514 phk group: Zhirenbaeva D. and Kulanbekov B. with the adviser of the practice, Associate Professor of pharmacognosy and chemistry department K.K.Orynbasarova, undergo practical training of Pharmacognosy at the Department of Molecular Biology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology of University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno.
At the beginning of practice, students were acquainted with the history of VPhU and Department of Molecular Biology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Further, according to the work plan, the students worked in the botanical garden of VFU, where they were acquainted with the conditions of gardening and the cultivation of a variety of medicinal, decorative and exotic plants: onion bearish, chives, flax, poppy soporific, marshmallow officinalis, several kinds of orchids and others.
Students in the laboratory of the University conducted a thin layer chromatography for the determination of biologically active substances in the grasses of peppermint and common thyme.
Moreover, trainees made essential oils, and determined their in content herbal preparations, and carried out macroscopic and microscopic analysis of the herb absinthe.
The students have got the technique of HPLC analysis of the following types: ECOM HPLC from Prague, YL 9100 HPLC from Korea, Analytical HPLC&U HPLC Agilent from Canada, HPLC Column Supelco from India, HPLC MS-Australia.
In addition, students were acquainted with the Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava.
Zhirenbaeva D. and B. Kulanbekov note that practice helped them feel more confident in their knowledge and skills in the study of medicinal plants, and expressed gratitude to management of the Academy for the opportunity of practical training at the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
