Participation in the international online school of Sechenov University

From 22 to 26 November, employees of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy listened to lectures by leading foreign scientists under the program of the international online school "Search, development and standardization of medicines of natural origin". The organizer of the online school was the Institute of Pharmacy named after A.P. Nelyubin with the assistance of the Department of Strategic Development and Internationalization of the Sechenov University (Moscow, RF).
Taking into account the prospects of introducing effective, safe and high-quality herbal medicines into medical practice, the topics of the lectures aroused great interest of the audience.

Lectures by Dr. David W. Morton, PhD., Professor, senior lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Applied Sciences at La Trobe University (Australia), on the search for new sources of biologically active substances of natural origin were relevant.
The issues of molecular genetic research of medicinal plants were discussed in the report of N. Friesen, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Scientific Director of the Osnabrück Botanical Garden in Germany, a famous scientist in the field of plant taxonomy and molecular biology.
Dr. D. Bokov, PhD, associated Professor of the Institute of Pharmacy named after A.P. Nelyubin, spoke in detail about the pharmacopoeial requirements for medicinal plant raw materials and herbal medicinal products, as well as the physicochemical methods of researching medicinal plant materials and herbal remedies.

The issues of standardization of medicines of natural origin and control of their quality using the method of high-performance thin-layer chromatography were no less interesting. The listeners received comprehensive answers to questions from S. Agatonovich-Kushtrin, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Pharmacy and Biosciences at the University of La Trobe, (Australia) and V. Gegechkori, PhD, associated Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry named after A.P. Arzamastsev.
Solovieva N., PhD, associated Professor of the Institute of Pharmacy named after A.P. Nelyubin, spoke about modern approaches to the development of medicines from natural raw materials, which are promising due to a wide spectrum of action and safety.
