November 15 is World Recycling Day

On November 15, 2021, in honor of the World Waste Recycling Day, a round table on the topic "Solid household waste in Shymkent: the current situation, problems and solutions" was held at the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology. This event was held according to the plan of the student scientific circle under the leadership of Rystigulova Zh.B.

The purpose of the round table: Comprehensive discussion of the issues of improving the system of utilization and management, and processing of solid household waste.Round table guests: Toyshybek ME, specialist of the Department of Ecology, Shymkent; MS Karakulova, head of the department for supervision of communal facilities of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision of Shymkent. ; V. Golyarko, representative of the Generation NGO, founder of the EcoCashback project; Eco-blogger, eco-activist Kunanbaeva A .; Volunteer "Good fellows Shymkent" Bulanova VV; Ecoaktiv Sadibekova B., director of Hayabusa LLP Nikashkin A. Member of Ecoclub “New-wave”, eco-activist Dracking AA, chief specialist of the public relations department of Al-Farabi region Shintasov D.A.

The opening speech of the round table was delivered by the head of the department "Hygiene and Epidemiology" Utepov Parkhad Dusembaevich. “This day is celebrated all over the world. The main goal is to induce the authorities and the public to pay attention to this issue, ”said the head of the department.

The round table discussed the problems of collection, sorting and disposal of household waste. The chief specialist of the Public relations department of the Al-Farabi region, D.A. Shintasov, gave us information on the number of container sites and garbage collection in the Al-Farabi region. And also, a specialist of the Department of Ecology of Shymkent Toyshybek M.E. told us about the general environmental situation in Shymkent. Chairman of the NGO "Generation" Vladislav Golyarko introduced us to his new project "Ecocashback", the purpose of the project was to introduce a scheme for conscientious separate disposal of household waste with cash payments for the needs of residents in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The head of the department, Parkhat Dyusembaevich, noted that such problems need to be solved on a large scale, and suggested organizing a flash mob with the involvement of UCMA students.
At the end of the round table, all participants were awarded a letter of thanks from the head of the department. He expressed his intention to continue to work together and be active.
