Master class "Creating and building the capacity of Study Committees"

From February 27 to March 3, 2023 at the University Medical Center in Utrecht (Netherlands) a master class "Creating and Building the Capacity of Research Committees to Improve Evaluation Criteria in Master's and Doctoral Studies" was held. The master class is organized within the framework of the AccelEd project (“Accelerating the Development of Nursing at Master and PhD Levels in Kazakhstan’s Higher Education System”), funded by the EU through Erasmus+, which implements innovative projects to increase capacity and reform higher education.

The team of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy was presented by the head of the department of "Emergency Medical Care and Nursing" Ph.D. Associate Professor Seidakhmetova Aizat Ashimkhanovna, assistants of the department, doctoral student Umida Abdyvalievna Khodzhakulova, Dana Auezkhankyzy, Eldor Shavkatovich Yunusmetov.
The master class was attended by European experts from the University Medical Center Utrecht (Netherlands), the Lithuanian University of Medical Sciences (Kaunas), JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Abo Academy University of Finland, Nazarbayev University Medical School, Medical Universities of Astana, Karaganda, KazNMU.

The participants were introduced to the organization of research committees in the Master's and PhD doctoral programs at the Medical Center Utrecht, guidelines and recommendations for the dissertation evaluation procedure.
A panel discussion was held where interesting questions were discussed about the establishment of separate research committees, guiding procedures, evaluation criteria, testing the applicability of long-term evaluation criteria for master's and doctoral dissertations. In the course of the work, the participants, based on the best practices of Europe, developed recommendations for the creation of research committees, criteria for evaluating master's and doctoral dissertations.

Participants worked as a team, tested the applicability of short-term assessment criteria for master's and doctoral theses.
A tour of the University Medical Center Utrecht was organized. When summarizing the results, all participants were awarded Certificates.
