December 1, 2022 at the Department of Pharmacognosy, held an open lecture by using an active teaching methods for 3rd year students on the educational program 6В07201 - "Technology of pharmaceutical production" - В-TPPKA-01-20; В-TPPA-04-20 groups, on the discipline "Chemistry of natural medicinal compounds" on the topic "Medicinal plants and raw materials containing tannins".
Acting Professor Orynbassarova K.K. read the lecture with the participation of a co-lecturer from partner universities, visiting professor Konovalov D.A., doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Botany and Technology of Phytopreparations of the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute took part in the lecture.
The day before, to students sent handouts on the topic of the lecture, on which they prepared their questions of interest. At the beginning of the lecture, the lecturer sorted the questions according to their semantic content. The presentation of the material was built not as an answer to every question asked, but in the form of a coherent disclosure of the topic, during which the corresponding answers were formulated.
Questions about the distribution of tannins in the plant world, the use of medicinal plant materials (MPR) with this group of biologically active substances (BAS), for which diseases medicinal plant materials are used, methods for analyzing tannins, methods for their isolation paid particular interest to students.
This lecture was held in the form of a press conference and a multilingual form in the state and Russian languages, during which doctor of pharm.sc., professor Konovalov D.A. told the students about the accumulation of tannins in herbal raw materials and their importance in the national economy, methods for isolating tannins from plant materials, their physical and chemical properties, methods of quantitative analysis. And in turn, acting professor Orynbasarova K.K. explained the methods of qualitative analysis of drugs with this group of biologically active substances, areas of application, as well as medicinal plant materials containing tannins.
In accordance with the plan of the lecture, the lecturers told and explained to the students in detail about the use of tannins as biologically active additives, their classification and physical and chemical properties, types of tannins and their structural features, as well as distribution in the plant world. They showed the structural features of their individual species in the form of a formula.
Feedback was established with students to consolidate new knowledge and update existing knowledge. The students answered the questions in detail.
The lecture-press conference was aimed at attracting students' attention to the main points of the content of the educational material, at the teacher's presentation of the degree of assimilation of the material, systematization of students' knowledge, correction of the chosen system of lecture work in this discipline.
