Industrial practice on the basis of Sechenov University
For the first time after quarantine restrictions, students of the Academy had the opportunity to go to the base of partner universities for internships.
The industrial practice "Quality control and standardization of medicines" of the 5th year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy Rustembekova Aidana, Torekhanova Kamila, Zholdasbekova Meruert, Ussenov Bakytzhan and Halniyaz Zhaybergen was held on the basis of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry named after A.P. Arzamastsev Institute of Pharmacy named after A.P. Nelyubin of Sechenov University (Moscow, RF).
As part of the practical block of industrial practice, students completed individual and group tasks using physical, chemical and physico-chemical methods. The students had to preliminary substantiate the methods of identification, analysis of purity and quantitative determination of medicinal substances in combined medicinal products, taking into account their physico-chemical properties, possible methods of separation, determination of them in total, etc.
Methods for comparative quantitative analysis of drugs by titrimetric and physicochemical methods (polarimetry, refractometry, FEC) were carried out.
The trainees conducted an analysis of related impurities in pharmaceutical substances, as well as stress tests of the stability of medicinal substances by TLC and HPLC-MS/MS at the laboratory of pharmacokinetics of the Center for Personalized Medicine named after I.V. Davydovsky. Department of Health of Moscow.
On the basis of the testing laboratory of the Center for Pharmaceutical Analytics (Skoltech, Skolkovo), a test of comparative dissolution kinetics was carried out - an assessment of the bioequivalence of a drug in vitro using UV spectrophotometry. Students also got acquainted with the structure, practical and research activities of the Center.
The theoretical block of the program consisted of master classes, trainings and lectures by leading scientists and practitioners of Russia in the field of pharmaceutical science on the topics: "Standardization and quality control of biological products", "Functional analysis of medicines", "System for registering dietary supplements for food in the Russian Federation. Existing problems and ways to solve them’’, "Test of comparative dissolution kinetics in the life cycle of a drug", "Peculiarities of acute poisoning at the present stage", "HPLC in the analysis of drugs", "Titrimetric method of quantitative determination and its application in drug quality control. Method development features”, “Pharmaceutical drug development based on RNA interference effect”, “Integration of science and business: opportunities for young professionals – graduates of pharmaceutical universities”, “NIR spectroscopy method and its application in drug quality control”.
The trainees were provided with an introductory program with the research activities of the Institute of Pharmacy named after. A.P. Nelyubin, during which they visited the basic and specialized departments, as well as the Scientific and Educational Research Center "PHARMA-PREMIUM" of the Institute.
A student Rustembekova Aidana took part in the All-Russian Olympiad in Organic Chemistry with international participation, following which she was recognized as one of the winners.
Summing up the results of practical training in the form of computer testing, solving situational problems and interviews showed good theoretical preparedness of students in pharmaceutical chemistry, analytical thinking, erudition, the ability to think logically and draw appropriate conclusions based on the results of the work performed, as well as practical skills and abilities to perform drug quality control resources, teamwork communication skills.
The cultural program was no less interesting. The students honored the memory of A.Kunanbaev and A.Pushkin by visiting the monuments to the great Kazakh thinker and the great Russian poet. A visit to the Swan Lake ballet within the walls of the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, performances by the Sphere Drama Theatre, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Cosmonautics, the Museum of Medicine at Sechenov University, etc. left an indelible impression.
Sincere gratitude is expressed by the staff of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry and students to the leadership of the Academy for the opportunity, as well as the host of Sechenov University in the person of the Director of the Institute of Pharmacy named after A.P. Nelyubin, Professor G.V. Ramenskaya for fruitful work and a warm welcome.
