IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL JOINT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ON PHARMACEUTICAL ECOLOGY
Considering the relevance of scientific research and the need to train specialists in the field of pharmaceutical ecology, the staff of our Academy and the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov (Sechenov University) in 2021 developed a joint educational program in the direction of "Pharmaceutical Ecology" at the level of scientific and pedagogical master's degree. The training program provides for the educational process itself, pedagogical practice, research work, scientific internship at both universities and defense of a master's thesis. Today, 5 master's students are studying under this program, 2 of whom successfully defended their master's theses at a meeting of the certification committee at the A.P. Nelyubin Institute of Pharmacy of Sechenov University.
Pharmaceutical ecology is a part of applied ecology and is designed to ensure environmental safety in the field of circulation of medicines, to solve problems arising in the process of pharmaceutical activities.
Nursultankyzy M. conducted research on the quality of water samples taken from sources in Shymkent for the content of residues of medicinal substances. These studies were preceded by numerous searches in the development of reliable methods for the extraction, detection and quantitative determination of medicinal substances in the studied objects. The results of the study were published in the Higher Attestation Commission, an application for an invention was submitted, and an author's certificate was received. Work in this direction will be continued.
One of the most possible and large sources of medicinal pollution of the environment can be identified as pharmaceutical production (with insufficient wastewater treatment, in emergency situations, etc.). The dissertation work of Markina E. is devoted to the development of approaches to assessing environmental safety in the production of drugs from the neuroleptic group.
No less problematic are medical and pharmacy institutions (with improper disposal of medical waste), as well as research centers where new drugs are created and studied. Agriculture, as an active consumer of drugs for livestock and poultry farming, multiplies the problem of drug pollution. And, of course, man himself contributes to drug pollution of the environment when removing some drugs and their metabolites from the body, throwing away expired drugs, used syringes, ampoules, etc.
Uncontrolled release of drugs into the environment can lead to a negative impact on biota and humans. All this gives impetus to the development of a new direction in the study of environmental pollution - pharmaceutical ecology. In this regard, the training of specialists in pharmaceutical ecology is relevant, who are faced with the task of developing regulatory documents, conducting scientific research, practical monitoring of the environment, designed to ensure the preservation of health and quality of life of a person.
The defense of the dissertations of the master's students took place at Sechenov University, following which the graduates received master's degrees in the field of "Pharmaceutical Ecology". We express our gratitude to all the employees of the Institute of Pharmacy named after A. P. Nelyubin of Sechenov University and SKMA for the development and implementation of such a relevant and promising double degree educational program.
