Consolidation of professional competencies during industrial internships

Students of the 4th and 5th years of the educational program 6V10106 "Pharmacy" completed their industrial internships in quality control and standardization of medicinal products at the State Institution "National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices" in the cities of Almaty, Karaganda, and Taraz.

Using modern high-tech equipment, the interns conducted physical, chemical, and physicochemical analysis of medicinal products in accordance with the requirements of the normative documents of the Eurasian Economic Union and the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as international, intergovernmental, and national rules, directives, and norms governing healthcare and the handling of medicinal products.

The students performed analysis of medicinal preparations using state-of-the-art equipment, such as the pH meter PP 50 "Sartorius", Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer Nicolet 380 "Thermo Fisher Scientific", Cammag thin-layer chromatography apparatus, melting point apparatus, circular polarimeter CM-3, laboratory binocular microscope with microoculars Axiostar Plus, UV-Vis Evolution 300 spectrophotometer, high-performance liquid chromatograph "Agilent technologies", and others. They also familiarized themselves with the system of microbiological control of medicinal preparations and the activities of the toxicology department.

The interns fully completed the industrial internship program. They followed the internal work schedule rules, observed occupational health and safety norms, and fire safety regulations at the enterprise. During the internship, they maintained electronic journals of their industrial practice and prepared reports on the results of their internship.

As a result, the internship enabled students to develop general and professional competencies in the field of quality control of medicinal products, as well as communication skills for teamwork.
