«CASE – STUDY» METHOD IN CONDUCTING STUDENTS’ INDEPENDENT WORK

On 20^th November 2015, at SKSPhA congress hall it was carried out master-class on conducting students’ independent work by method “CASE–STUDY” by the teachers of Pharmacognosy and Chemistry Department on themes- «Essential oils» for speciality «Pharmacy», 5-year students (507 phr) and «Terpenoids» for speciality «Technology of pharmaceutical production» 4-year students (401 tphp, 402 tphp) which was organized by Head of the department of Pharmacognosy and Chemistry, doctor of Chemical sciences, professor A.K.Patsayev and candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, acting professor K.K.Orynbassarova

The purpose of the master-class is – improving skills, obtaining the experience of problem decision and forming of professional competence.

Main task is – developing the investigation abilities, communicative and masterpiece priorities on solving the problem.

SIWT was conducted on-line with students of our academy, who study on academic mobility in KSMU, KazNMU by name of S.D.Asfendyiarov and Medicinal institute of Astana.

Demonstrated master-class with presence of our guest D.A.Konavalov, the doctor of Pharmaceutical sciences, professor, deputy director on science at Piyatigorsk medical and pharmaceutical institute gave to students opportunity to work in a team at one problem area and to use the short information, reducing the degree of vagueness under limit of time and also to use the principles of problem learning.

Students end up the master-class with defense of their STP (Scientific Technical Projects) on themes «Resource study of essential oil plants in South Kazakhstan flora and their cultivation» and «Isolation and analysis of essential oils from plant materials».

The efficiency of usage of this method by learning on SIWT was approved by the results of testing and by taking questionnaire from students and teachers of pharmaceutical faculty.
