A candidate for master’s degree of SKSPhA Magzhan Shamiyev won the gold medal at the World Cup in Rumia (Poland)

On 18th-20th November 2016 there was held the XIII World Cup in arm wrestling among professionals “Zloty tour” in the city of Rumia (Poland). A candidate for master’s degree of SKSPhA Magzhan Shamiyev won the gold medal in weight of 78 kg. 450 athletes represented 44 countries (Italy, France, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and others). B.D. Seksenbayev, Rector of SKSPhA, MD, Professor and B.K. Makhatov, Vice-Rector, Doctor of Pharmacy, Professor were the first people who congratulated our champion on his victory. 

Magzhan competed with Peter Bartosovich (Poland) in the semifinal and with Zaur Saidov from Russia in the final and won the gold medal wrestling with his left hand.

M. Shamiyev won his first medal, the bronze one, at the international tournament in Tashkent at the Asian Championship in 2009, the weight was 55 kilograms, he was just a pupil of the 10th grade at secondary school in Shardara of South Kazakhstan region (Kazakhstan).

He became a junior world champion in 2011, it was in Almaty, the weight category was up to 65 kg. Then, there were the victories in the European tournaments in arm wrestling in Sweden, Slovenia, Italy, Russia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Ukraine and Bulgaria. And then, the Asian world championships in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, UAE, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan.

Only once he lost the semi-final and won the 4th prize at the beginning of his athletic career. The future world-class athlete felt stressed, but his mother Khansulu explained his son that the main victory was in the future, she believed in the training of Shardara school in arm wrestling. By the way, the trainees of Arman Romanuly Karsybayev, a chairman of the regional department of physical culture and sports of Shardara (many years he headed the sports school in arm wrestling) and Seyfulla Nurkhalikov, the head coach of South Kazakhstan, won three gold and three bronze medals at the World Cup “Zloty Tour” in Rumia. 

“The competitions in Rumia were held at a high level, - said M. Shamiyev and added that 18 installed cameras were transmitting the spectacular fights of titled sportsmen on the big screen”.
