Student Debate: “Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare: Symbiosis or Competition?”
On April 18 at 3:00 PM, a thought-provoking and dynamic student debate took place at the main campus of «SKMA» JSC, Room 200. The topic of discussion: “Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare: Symbiosis or Competition?”
Two teams — “Government” and “Opposition” — faced off in an intellectual duel, exploring one of the most relevant issues in modern medicine: the growing role of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The “Government” team argued in favor of AI integration, emphasizing its vast potential:
• early and accurate disease diagnosis,
• automation of routine processes,
• reduction of medical errors,
• increased efficiency for healthcare professionals.
They convincingly stated that AI can become a powerful assistant to doctors, enhancing rather than replacing human expertise.
The “Opposition” team took a more cautious stance, highlighting the risks associated with relying on AI:
• the inability of machines to replicate human intuition, clinical thinking, and empathy,
• potential job displacement,
• ethical dilemmas and possible system failures,
• decline in the quality of patient care.
They emphasized that medicine is not only a science but also an art of human connection, which AI cannot fully replicate.
The debate unfolded in a lively and engaging format, with both teams demonstrating strong preparation, critical thinking, and persuasive public speaking skills.
Events like this help students sharpen their analytical abilities, enhance their argumentation techniques, and develop a deeper understanding of how technological innovations are reshaping the future of medicine.
Stay tuned for more exciting student-led initiatives at SKMA!
