Stroke in Focus: Practical Class for Future Specialists
On October 26, 2024, the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation and Neurosurgery held a practical class on the topic: "Blood Circulation of the Brain and Spinal Cord. Vascular Diseases of the Nervous System" for 5th-year students of the educational program "General Medical Practice" in group ZhMOB-07-20. The practical class was timed to coincide with World Stroke Day, which is celebrated on October 29. The purpose of the event was to raise students' awareness of the problems of stroke, its signs, diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as to discuss preventive measures.
During the practical lesson, students covered the following issues: stroke morbidity and mortality statistics, division into ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, stroke signs (F.A.S.T. - Face, Arms, Speech, Time), instrumental and laboratory methods (CT, MRI, ultrasound), stroke treatment, long-term rehabilitation and recovery. Students analyzed clinical cases, conducted diagnostics and proposed modern approaches to treatment and rehabilitation for patients. The lesson contributed to the formation of critical thinking and the ability to work in a team. The discussion format enriched the students' experience, strengthening their knowledge. The open lesson confirmed the need to increase awareness of stroke problems and the importance of timely assistance, which is especially relevant in the context of modern healthcare. According to PhD, acting associate professor Mustapaeva G.A. students demonstrated the results of a successful discussion of an important and relevant problem, a high level of involvement, actively analyzing clinical cases, which allowed not only to deepen their knowledge of the symptoms and prevention of stroke, but also to develop diagnostic and treatment skills.

The practical lesson on the topic of stroke was successful and contributed to deepening the students' knowledge of this pathology. Participants noted the importance of such events for preparing for professional activities and improving general medical literacy.
