Strengthening the professional competencies of students within the walls of KSMA

Based on the Memorandum between the universities, 4th-year students of the OP "Pharmacy" underwent industrial practice "Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines" at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev (KSMA, Bishkek).
Our students were warmly welcomed by the rector of KSMA, professor I.O. Kudaibergenova. During the meeting, she noted the high material and technical base of our Academy and shared the strategic plan for the development of KSMA. After the meeting, the students got acquainted with the structural divisions of the Academy and met with the teaching staff of the supervising department of practice - the department of pharmacognosy and chemistry of drugs. Head of the department A.D. Muratalieva noted the high fruitful cooperation between the two departments, introduced them to educational, methodological and scientific achievements, and conducted a tour of the production sites for growing medicinal plants.

The industrial practice took place in the Central Control and Analytical Laboratory under the Department of Medicines and Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic (CCAL DLSiMI). CCAL is accredited in the National Accreditation System of the Kyrgyz Republic by the Kyrgyz Accreditation Center for compliance with the requirements of GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories".

Our students have fully completed the industrial practice plan. To consolidate their professional skills, the students were divided into two small groups and acted as analytical chemists under the supervision of laboratory specialists: they prepared working and standard solutions, carried out quality control of substances and drugs in accordance with the requirements of the International, European, British Pharmacopoeia, the Pharmacopoeia of the EAEU, the Russian Federation and regulatory documents of the manufacturers. To determine the quality specifications of drugs, they worked on Erweka disintegration, dissolution, and abrasion testers, a Shimadzu spectrophotometer, an Agilent technologies high-performance liquid chromatograph, etc. The results were interpreted together with the specialists of the Central Laboratory of Laboratory Analysis.

The students' cultural program was no less intense. The students visited the National Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Chingis Aitmatov House-Museum, Ala-Too Square, Panfilov Park, the Supara Chunkurchak Ethno-Complex, etc.

We express special gratitude to the management of SKMA, the rector of KSMA, professor I.O. Kudaibergenova, the head of the department of pharmacognosy and chemistry of drugs A.D. Muratalieva, the head of the Central Clinical Laboratory S.T. Kydyralieva for organizing industrial practice at a high level and an invaluable contribution to the development of professional growth of our students.
