Seminar on the topic: “Basic aspects of IPC: healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance”

Employees of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Dermatovenereology: head teacher of the department, infectious disease specialist of the highest category Sarypbekova L.L., acting Associate Professor of the Department, PhD Zhuzzhasarov A.A., were trained at a five-day seminar on the topic “Basic aspects of IPC: infections associated with the provision of medical care and antimicrobial resistance”, held jointly with the Branch of the Corporation “Centers for International Programs” in Kazakhstan (ICAP) and RSE at the RPE “National Center for Public Health” of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Which took place in Almaty, April 22-26, 2024.

This seminar was held specifically for the teaching staff of universities and educational institutions.
The seminar discussed problematic issues related to ensuring infectious safety in medical organizations, such issues as combating antimicrobial resistance, the use of standard precautions, precautions based on transmission routes, hand hygiene, injection safety and handling of sharps, stabbing, safe practices injections, medical waste management rules, safety culture issues, multimodal strategies. Issues of epidemiological surveillance of infections associated with the provision of medical care and other relevant topics are also discussed.
Within the framework of the seminar, information was exchanged and educational materials on IPC were provided for the further development and improvement of standardized training programs (syllabuses) for students of clinical specialties of medical universities and TVET.
At the end of the seminar, all participants were awarded certificates confirming successful completion of the training.
