Seminar-meeting "Fundamentals of prevention of health of the working population. Conducting periodic medical examinations"
On May 18, 2023, a seminar-meeting "Fundamentals of health prevention of the working population" was held at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy. Conducting periodic medical examinations". The seminar was organized by the Institute of Public Health and Occupational Health of the NAO "Medical University of Karaganda", which is a medical organization supervising the occupational pathology service of the republic. The seminar-meeting was organized for occupational pathologists and doctors taking part in medical examinations, working in harmful and dangerous working conditions, as well as for employees of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control (DSEC) of the Southern region of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the seminar: To improve the provision of medical care to the population in occupational pathology, organizational and methodological assistance in conducting periodic medical examinations, working in harmful and dangerous working conditions.
In total, more than 100 participants took part in the seminar, including 20 DSEC specialists, 95 occupational pathologists and doctors taking part in medical examinations.
The first vice-rector of the SKMA, Marlen Yesirkepov, made a welcoming speech, noting that the most important indicator of the health of a society is the state of health of its employees, this determines the quality of labor resources and the demographic situation in the country, labor productivity, the value of gross domestic product

Issues of sanitary and epidemiological control of mandatory medical examinations were widely discussed, where the following took part: A.Yskakov - Deputy Head of the SEC Department for the Turkestan region; A.Abdykaimova - Deputy Head of the SEC Department for the Kyzylorda region, A.Akhmetov - Deputy Head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the city of Shymkent.
The discussion was attended by P.D. Utepov - Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the SKMA, Amanbayeva B. – Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Therapy of MKTU, Sadykova G. – chief freelance occupational pathologist of the Kyzylorda region.
At the end of the seminar, a question-and-answer discussion took place between the participants of the meeting.
The seminar-meeting is relevant not only for the city of Shymkent, but also for the entire Southern region, due to the presence of harmful production organizations, such as JSC "Shymkent Mai", uranium mining, cement plant, JSC "Himpharm", etc.
Since occupational diseases are preventable but incurable, it is necessary to consider the prevention and early detection of occupational diseases.
It is necessary to solve the issues of primary medical preventive measures in the workplace, control of periodic medical examinations, for early detection of groups at risk of developing occupational pathology and other diseases. This applies to questions of professional fitness.
All participants of the seminar were awarded certificates for participation of 16 hours.
On May 19, the chief freelance occupational pathologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Amanbekova A., the chief freelance occupational pathologist of Shymkent Dosybayeva G. and the chief researcher of the research sanitary laboratory of the Institute of Public Health and Occupational Health of the NJSC "MUK", Otarov E. met with the deputy heads of the Department of Health and DSE of the Zhambyl region and polyclinics of Taraz.
The purpose of the visit is to improve the quality of mandatory periodic medical examinations in the region, timely identification and implementation of rehabilitation measures to improve the health of workers in harmful and dangerous working conditions. Monitoring the training of occupational pathologists and doctors involved in periodic medical examinations.
