SCIENTIFIC INTERNSHIP OF MASTER'S STUDENTS AT THE TASHKENT PHARMACEUTICAL INSTITUTE
From December 9 to 20, 2024, second-year master's students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacognosy – Atyrkhan Aruzhan, Rybakova Alena, and Umarova Dilyafruz – underwent a scientific internship at the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute (TashFARMI) and the Institute of Chemistry of Plant Substances named after Academician S.Yu. Yunusov. The main goal of the internship was to expand professional knowledge and acquire practical skills in the field.
In accordance with the internship plan, the students familiarized themselves with the facilities of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute and discussed the internship program.
Master's students of the second year, based on the topics of their dissertation works, conducted the following analyses:
• Macro- and microelement composition of medicinal plants and soil;
• Content of radionuclides in medicinal plants and soil.
Atyrkhan A. O., based on the topic of her dissertation, performed the following:
• Qualitative analysis of the flowers of narrow-leaved lavender using TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography);
• Quantitative determination of the essential oil composition in narrow-leaved lavender using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry);
• Quantitative determination of the total flavonoid content using HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).
Rybakova A. D., based on the topic of her dissertation, performed the following:
• Qualitative analysis of eyebright grass using TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography);
• Determination of the main groups of biologically active substances obtained from combed eyebright grass;
• Quantitative determination of the total flavonoid content using HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).
Umarova D. A., based on the topic of her dissertation, performed the following:
• Qualitative analysis of lemon balm herb using TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography);
• Quantitative determination of the essential oil composition in lemon balm using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry);
• Quantitative determination of the total flavonoid content using HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the support provided by the Institute of Chemistry of Plant Substances named after Academician S.Yu. Yunusov, particularly to the head of the "Flavonoids" laboratory, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor E.H. Botirov, and all the staff members.
The master's students noted the high level of organization of the internship and the unique opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute. The knowledge and skills gained will serve as the foundation for their future research and professional growth.
Throughout the scientific internship, PhD, Associate Professor Sh.R. Khalilova provided support and assistance to the master's students. Additionally, the head of the Department of Pharmacognosy at the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute, N.T. Farmanova, participated in organizing the activities in accordance with the internship program.
The staff of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacognosy expresses its gratitude to the rector of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor K.S. Rizaev, the head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor N.T. Farmanova, and PhD, Associate Professor Sh.R. Khalilova for providing optimal conditions for the scientific internship at the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute.
