Round table on the topic “Fundamentals of financial security”

Financial literacy is a set of knowledge, abilities and skills, as well as attitudes in the field of financial behavior of a citizen, which lead to an increase in well-being and an improvement in the quality of life of a person, his family and society as a whole.
The ability to manage money wisely and protect your finances is a skill on which the quality of your entire future life may depend. It is extremely important to be able to recognize virtual “traps”, to have an idea of how creative financial scammers on the Internet are sometimes and what to do to avoid becoming their victim.
In order to prevent financial fraud and improve financial literacy, Associate Professor of the Department of “History of Kazakhstan and Social Disciplines” Aidarbekova G.S. held a round table with students on the topic “Fundamentals of Financial Security” with IDN employee Shakhalakov Zh.
During which students were offered information about safety rules when shopping on the Internet, tips and recommendations that must be taken into account when paying for online purchases or Internet services, types of financial fraud and the main ways to protect against them: fraud with bank cards, financial fraud in Internet, mobile fraud.

The most common types of financial fraud and ways to protect against it. At the conclusion of the event, recommendations were given on careful communication on the Internet and via cellular communications in order to avoid problems with scammers. The police officer answered questions from students, and also focused on the issues of maintaining law and order in public places and the ethics of relationships between students and teachers.
Recommendations for protection against financial fraud:
• do not give your bank card to strangers;
• require card transactions to be carried out only in personal presence;
• do not disclose your PIN code or code from an SMS message;
• when receiving dubious messages from banks or persons posing as relatives, call the bank or relatives to clarify the information;
• if you become a victim of financial fraud, report to the police.
