Project-based learning in action: Defense of works on demyelinating diseases
At the South Kazakhstan medical academy, a project defense dedicated to demyelinating diseases was held at the Department of neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and neurosurgery for students of the English-speaking groups B-ZMSHA-09-20, B-ZMSHA-10-20, B-ZMSHA-11-20, B-ZMSHA-12-20, and B-ZMSHA-13-20, who are in their 5th year of study. The event was part of project-based learning, allowing students to dive deeper into current issues in neurology and psychiatry. Present at the project defense were faculty members (PhD, docent Polukchi T.V., c.m.s., docent Mustapayeva G.A., and assistants Tulebaeva G.E., Musaeva S.K., Yessetova A.A., Ramanova G.B.) as well as intern doctors, who listened with interest to the students’ presentations and actively participated in discussions, asking questions within the framework of trilingual education. Students presented the results of their research based on current scientific data, demonstrating their high level of preparation and interest in their chosen topics. Project-based learning has become an important part of the educational process, enabling students to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and scientific communication skills. The project defense also created a platform for knowledge and idea exchange, contributing to a deeper understanding of complex medical issues. We are proud of our students' achievements and are confident that their work will make a significant contribution to the development of medicine in Kazakhstan and beyond. The faculty at the Department of Neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and neurosurgery continue to support students in their pursuit of knowledge and scientific accomplishments.
