«Press-conference» an active method of training

Prof. Ordabayeva’s  planned open lecture was held in the current academic year at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry in the dis-cipline “Analysis of natural biologically active compounds”.

Special interest among students and faculty staff was caused by the use of one of the active methods at the lecture - a press conference. On the eve of the students handouts were distributed on the theme of the lecture, on which they prepared their questions.

The lecturer sorted the questions on their semantic content within 3-5 minutes at the beginning of the lecture. The presentation of the material was not built as an answer to each question posed, but in the form of a coherent disclosure of the topic, during which the corresponding answers were formulated.

Students were interested in the mechanisms and conditions for carrying out chemical reactions of identification and quantification of medicinal preparations. The issues of obtaining medications had a special place, since the problem of the purity of the drug substances from impurities depends on this. Of particular interest among students is always the study of the relationship between the chemical structure and pharmacological activity, as a result of which many synthetic analogs of natural biologically active compounds have entered medical practice.

Miss. Iztileuova - head of testing laboratory of South Kazakhstan Center for  Medicine Expertise, who was invited as an employer, answered exhaustively the practical questions of the students on the topic under study. Akmaral Zhaksylykovna was also interested in a comparative analysis of pharmacopoeial requirements for the quality of medicinal preparations in accordance with the Ka-zakh Pharmacopeia, Eur.Ph, BritPh, USP, which were detailed by the lecturer.

The lecture-press conference was aimed at attracting the attention of students to the main points of the content of the teaching material, the presentation of the teacher about the degree of mastering the material, the systematization of students' knowledge, the correction of the chosen system of lecture work on this discipline. At the end of the lecture, the lecturer summarized the questions as reflecting the knowledge and interests of the students.
