“Honor to Veteran Mothers: Warmth of the Heart and Care” – an event dedicated to March 8, International Women’s Day
Today, on the first spring holiday—Mother’s Day—the faculty of the Department of Family Medicine at SKMA, along with interns, visited 11 home front workers of the Great Patriotic War registered at City Polyclinic No. 8 in Shymkent and congratulated them on Mother’s Day. The examinations were conducted by the head of the department, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kauzbay Jumaly Aripbaevich; Professor Igor Alexandrovich Samchenko; top-category therapist and department assistant Kumisay Kuldyrakovna Atashova; and general practitioner and department assistant Dinara Sabyrzhanovna Narzullaeva. On-site blood tests for cholesterol and glucose were conducted, intraocular pressure was measured, and ECGs were performed for our veterans.
Our grandmothers consulted the doctors, asking pertinent health-related questions. Based on the examination results and ECG findings, medication dosages were adjusted, treatments were prescribed, and home hospitalization was suggested for some. The event, organized by the faculty of the Department of Family Medicine at SKMA in collaboration with the staff of City Polyclinic No. 8, concluded with sincere smiles, warm words, and gratitude from our veterans. The interns observed important practical aspects of home care for patients, especially those who are seriously ill. Indeed, there are few veterans left among us, many of whom cannot visit the clinic due to their health conditions; most are bedridden or in wheelchairs. It is our duty to respect our esteemed veterans who made significant contributions to the defense of our Motherland.
