Diagnosis and treatment of orphan diseases: Challenges and achievements
On February 28, 2025, an international student conference titled "DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ORPHAN DISEASES: CHALLENGES AND ACHIEVEMENTS" was held at the Department of Fundamental Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty dedicated to Rare Disease Day. This event aimed to raise public awareness of rare diseases, their diagnosis, treatment, and social support for patients. In Kazakhstan, as well as worldwide, this issue requires special attention from the medical community, governmental institutions, and scientific organizations.
This conference was attended by students from medical universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries with interesting research reports.
Intern doctor Sapargali Akbilek from the "GP-2" department, group 01-23, presented a report on "Primary Diagnosis of Nonspecific Aortoarteritis (Takayasu Disease)," with scientific supervisors: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Dossybayeva Gulzhan, and Master of Medicine Otumbayeva Enlik.
By the decision of the jury, Sapargali Akbilek was awarded the honorable first place.
Dean of Internship and Graduate Employment Kemelbekov Kanatzhan Sauhanbekovich congratulated Sapargali Akbilek on the prize and wished him success in his research work.
