Diabetes mellitus in children

According to the definition of the World Health Organization, diabetes mellitus is a disease that is considered to be the result of impaired insulin secretion and insulin action, or both. It is characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels. In other words, diabetes mellitus occurs when insulin is not produced enough or its effect is reduced.
Due to the frequent development of diabetes mellitus among children, the Department of Pediatrics-2, 04/26/2024, together with the PKA-01-21 group, an open lesson on "Diabetes mellitus in children" was held. The open lesson discussed the factors of diabetes mellitus, the mechanism of development, research methods, treatment measures, students with the help of practical skills determined blood glucose levels using a glucometer. This lesson was important for future pediatricians.
