Curatorial hour dedicated to the Republic Day “My Motherland – Kazakhstan”
On the eve of Republic Day, October 25, curators and teachers of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and Social Disciplines held curatorial hours “My Motherland is Kazakhstan.”
Purpose: To introduce students to the history of this holiday; deepen and expand students’ knowledge and understanding of our Motherland; cultivate love and respect for the culture, traditions and customs of the Kazakh people.
Republic Day is the first historical step towards statehood of our country.
On October 25, 1990, the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR adopted the first legal document of independent Kazakhstan - the Declaration of the Sovereignty of the Republic and proclaimed the political and legal basis of Kazakhstan as an independent state.
In 2022, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed returning Republic Day. The head of state gave it the status of a “national holiday” and took the initiative to celebrate it as the main holiday of Kazakhstan. The president's initiative received the support of the people, and in the same year a corresponding change was made to the law. It was said that Republic Day should be a symbol of the country's historic step towards statehood.
Curators of the department, acting associate professor Aidarbekova G.S., acting associate professor Turadilov M.U., senior teachers Makhatova L.T. and Ibraimova A.Zh. spent curatorial hours in their groups with the performance of the National Anthem “Menin Kazakhstan”. Supervisory hours were held in the format of presentations and speeches by students. Information was given about the history and development of independent Kazakhstan, as well as the beginning of the celebration of Republic Day in the country.
During the curatorial hours dedicated to the Republic Day, students performed patriotic songs, dances and kuis.
Teachers of the department discussed in their classes the national status of Republic Day and noted that this significant day had an important historical role in the development of the country as a democratic, legal state.
To increase patriotism among today's Kazakh youth, it is important to strengthen their love of history. Likewise, it is our duty to increase our respect for the nation, our enthusiasm for education and science and to renew our consciousness on Republic Day.
