Active learning methods as a way to increase efficiency educational process

With the use of active teaching methods Case-study (AKS) and TBL, an open session on pharmaceutical chemistry was held on the topic “Analysis of medicines, derivatives of Phenothiazine”.

The head of the department, professor Ordabayeva S.K.dwelt on the main objectives of active learning methods (ALM), their advantages and relevance in modern education.

Art. Lecturer of the Department Makhova Ye.G. noted the connection of the topic under study with the previous sections of the program, stressed the relevance of the study of medicines, phenothiazine derivatives.

To conduct the “Case Study” (ACS) method, the situation was taken from the actual practice of the pharmacovigilance system and the medicine quality con-trol testing laboratory: admission to the authorized body of “yellow cards” from medical institutions with complaints of lack of effectiveness and adverse reactions tablets of the study medicine.

To solve a specific situation, students played the role of an analytical chem-ist in a testing laboratory for quality control of medicines. To this end, each study group was divided into two small groups.

After receiving the assignment from the teacher, each small group performed a pharmacopoeial analysis of the tablets of the medicinal product according to the sections of the regulatory documentation.

The students noted that as a result, instead of superficial and mechanical memorization of information, they received a meaningful and deep understanding of the material under study, had the opportunity to develop analytical thinking, to form professional competencies.

Case-study and TBL active teaching methods help form a holistic view of professional activities, social skills, teamwork and teamwork, and a responsible attitude to work.
