About some problems of social adaptation of foreign students

Training of foreign students requires the active participation of teachers, psychologists, social and administrative workers to provide quality educational services, as well as increase the level of adaptation of foreign students. 

Most foreign students have a low level of awareness of the political, economic, and social systems of Kazakhstan; about the norms, customs, traditions and culture of the people. 

On February 14, 2019, the Department of Medical Biophysics and Information Technology organized a meeting of foreign students with law enforcement officials and representatives of the NGO (non-governmental organization) “Sana Sezim”, which was held in the hostel number 2 of the SKMA. The following topics were considered during the meeting: “Rights and obligations of foreign students in the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “Human traffic is the problem of the century”.

The chief specialist of the Department for the Prevention of Violence against Women of the Al-Farabi district department of internal affairs, police major Mominova G.O., representatives of NGOs “Sana Sezim”, Khasanova S. and Ganye M. 

During the presentation, experts have talked about situations in which foreign students find themselves ignorant of their rights and obligations; about the sad consequences of dating through social networks.

The participants of the meeting have received booklets in which can be found the information about the rules of behavior in various situations, telephone rescue services and authorities providing psychological and legal assistance. 

The staff of the department hopes that the information obtained will be useful and will prevent some difficulties related with the social adaptation of foreign students.
