A cross-departmental seminar on the topic "Problems of Vaccination Against Human Papillomavirus (HPV)"

On December 10, 2024, a cross-departmental seminar on the topic "Problems of Vaccination Against Human Papillomavirus (HPV)" was held at SKMA under the guidance of S.U. Yeskerova, Acting Associate Professor of the Department of "Hygiene and Epidemiology."
The seminar was attended by A.B. Musaeva, Head of the Epidemiological Department of the Turan District Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Administration of Shymkent, and B.E. Zhanteev, a doctor-epidemiologist at City Polyclinic No. 1, as well as third- and fourth-year students, interns, and the faculty members of the Departments of "Hygiene and Epidemiology," "Infectious Diseases and Dermatovenerology," and "Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology."
During the seminar, A.B. Musaeva, Head of the Epidemiological Department, gave a presentation on "Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of HPV Vaccination," informing the participants about the vaccination of girls aged 11-13, its importance, and the ongoing awareness-raising efforts among the population. In turn, B.E. Zhanteev, a doctor-epidemiologist at City Hospital No. 1, presented a report on "Sanitary and Epidemiological Requirements for HPV Vaccination in a Polyclinic Setting," comparing international and domestic practices of immunization against human papillomavirus. Additionally, the epidemiologists answered questions from faculty members and students.
Also, at the cross-departmental seminar, a report by S.T. Polatbekov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of "Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology," was presented on the biology of the human papillomavirus and its transmission routes.
Intern A. Turashbekova from the group ЖТДК-09-24presented on the clinic, diagnosis, and treatment of HPV, while student J. Meimakhan from the group ВМ-МКА-07-22 presented on the epidemiology of HPV. Acting Associate Professor S.U. Yeskerova spoke on the prevention of HPV spread among the population, and Acting Associate Professor P.D. Utepol delivered a presentation on HPV immunization.
Additionally, a video about HPV vaccination for girls aged 11, 12, and 13 in Kazakhstan was shown.
The goal of the seminar was to protect the population from HPV infection and emphasize the importance of vaccination in the prevention of cancerous diseases.
At the end of the seminar, the speakers were awarded certificates of participation and letters of appreciation on behalf of the academy.
