Тraining “Modern aspects of evidence-based medicine”
On 14- 16 th May, 2018 the Department of Evidence-based medicine held a training seminar: “Modern aspects of evidence-based medicine”. This seminar was organized to implement the achievements of modern science and public health based on the principles of evidence-based medicine in study programs,clinical minute, monitoring, increasing potential of the teaching staff of SKMA and in accordance with the measures on the «Road map» and the projectrealization “Modernization of medical education” for 2016-2019 of the Ministry of Health care of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The training was conducted for the faculty of the Department of Surgical Disciplines, the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, the Department of Infectious Diseases and Dermatovenereology, the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Psychology, the Department of Primary Health Care with the Course of Obstetrics and Gynecology №1. The training was conducted by the head of the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine, Candidate of Medical Science, K.E. Akhmadiyeva, the specialist of the department and the Acting Docent, Candidate of Medical Science, L.T. Kasaeva, the specialist of the media library M.D.Mamytova. The training took place at the Department of Medical Biophysics, Informatics and Mathematics of YuKMA (Computer Class No. 500).
The training took place in an interactive form using modern multimedia technologies and the Internet. The format of the training included work in small groups, discussions with didactic material, presentations. Subjects of the training were devoted to such issues as DM terminology, DM stages, DM competences for teachers, research design, critical evaluation, articles, information retrieval in medical databases, clinical guidelines, clinical protocols, implementation and monitoring in the educational process, inter-cafeteria interaction in the implementation of the principles of evidence-based medicine in the educational process.
The information obtained during the lectures was fixed by the practical work on retrieval of information in medical databases and evaluation of the quality of the proposed scientific medical publications. Formulation of clinical questions using the PICO method, analysis of the quality of scientific articles, analysis of clinical guidelines for the questionnaire AGREE, testing of the proposed material at the output in the format of MCQ tests.
To assess the effectiveness of the training, a questionnaire was conducted at the entrance and the exit. The final evaluation of the training showed a significant increase in the knowledge of students at this training. Certificates were awarded.
