Progress of the scientific internship at the National Center for Natural Products Research

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, acting Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacognosy Raushan Kozykeyeva was recognized as a scholarship holder of the “500 Scientists” project, conducted by the JSC “Center for International Programs” and she completed 3-months scientific internship from October 23, 2023 – to January 21, 2024 at the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) at the Ted Cochran Research Center, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi, USA.

The world-renowned NCNPR was established in 1995 to research, develop and commercialize potentially beneficial natural products. NCNPR, based at the University of Mississippi, School of Pharmacy, collaborates with scientists, government, the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries to develop natural products that can be used to improve human and crop health, pharmaceuticals, food additives and agrochemicals.
During the scientific internship, Raushan Kozykeyeva in the field of "Chemical Technologies" used modern analytical tools for the isolation of natural medicines (types of column chromatography, preparative HPLC), purification (types of column chromatography, solid-phase extraction, HPTLC), isolation of pure, new substances and determination of chemical structures of isolated substances (NMR spectroscopy, LC-MS, GC, etc.). As a result of the internship, Raushan Kozykeyeva improved her skills in conducting scientific research, successfully completed a scientific internship and currently continues her work.
