«My profession is my pride!»

On 04.15.2025, Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology S.U.Eskerova held a round table on the topic "My profession is my pride!". The round table was attended by professionals of the sanitary and epidemiological service such as: Deputy Head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of Shymkent Akhmetov A.A., Head of the Department of sanitary and epidemiological control of Turar district Musayeva A.B., epidemiologist of the disinfection center of Turkestan region Yelemesov B.M., epidemiologist of the Regional Clinical Hospital Kabotaeva A.O., epidemiologistbacteriologist of the Shymkent anti-plague station Ussibalieva S.B., faculty of the department and students of 2,3,4 courses of Medical and preventive medicine, Public Health, General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Dentistry.
The purpose of the round table is to reveal the most importance of professions in the field of public health and disease prevention.
During the round table, Akhmetov A.A. made a welcoming speech. In his speech, he noted the importance, structure and features of the sanitary and epidemiological service and the competencies, functions and rights of employees of the sanitary and epidemiological sphere, and also offered students the successful development of communication skills and innovative technologies that are actively being implemented in future professional activities.

Moderator S.U.Eskerova made a presentation on "The present and the future in the training of specialists in the field of sanitary and epidemiological services", in particular, she focused the participants' attention on the specifics of the integrated educational program "Medical and preventive care", and also talked about competencies and organizations where graduates can carry out their professional activities.
The presentation report prepared by Musayeva A.B. provided information on the work of epidemiologists in various epidemiological foci, on the most common infectious diseases, including particularly dangerous infections, and on immunoprophylaxis. At the end, the speaker was asked questions by the teacher and students, to which meaningful answers were received.
In his report, epidemiologist B.M. Yelemesov spoke about the professional activities of the staff of the disinfection center of the Turkestan region, about the current regulations and called on students to take their studies and communication skills seriously.

The next speaker was A.O. Kabotaeva, who is a graduate of the specialty "Public Health" of the SKMA and currently works as an epidemiologist at the Regional Clinical Hospital. She shared her experience with the students and talked about her path to becoming a good specialist, as well as shared information about the occurrence and spread of infections related to the provision of medical care in the clinic and about sanitary and preventive and sanitary anti-epidemic measures carried out in medical institutions, about the functions of the Infection Control Commission. This aroused great interest among the students, after which they asked their questions, to which they received useful and informative answers.
The last speaker was S.B. Ussibalieva, a bacteriologist at the anti-plague station, who is also a graduate of the SKMA with a degree in Public Health. She shared with the participants of the round table about the structure, tasks and functions of the station, working conditions, including in the bacteriological laboratory, biological safety measures, the types of experiments being conducted, and the specifics of working in foci of particularly dangerous diseases, including plague, cholera, that in order to protect the health of station employees receive targeted vaccination every year.

The final word was given to the head of the department, P.D.Utepov, who summed up the results of the round table, and moderator S.U.Eskerova thanked all the participants and invited them to a joint photo.
