Regional Nephrology Conference Held at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy
On March 28, 2025, the assembly hall of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA) hosted a regional nephrology conference on "Innovations and Progress in the Clinic of Internal Diseases – Focus on Integral Nephrology". The event brought together leading nephrology specialists from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The conference provided a vital platform for discussing key issues in diagnosing and treating chronic kidney diseases, as well as implementing modern approaches in clinical practice.
The conference was opened by Zhanna Seitzhanova, Rector of SKMA, who emphasized the importance of the topics discussed and expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions to the advancement of nephrology. The program included presentations on conceptual paradigms of modern nephrology, new recommendations on arterial hypertension and chronic kidney disease, key challenges in kidney transplant survival, and the role of urinary biomarkers in clinical practice.
Among the prominent speakers were Professor Saltanat Tuganbekova (MUA), Professor Bagdat Sultanova (National Kidney Foundation), Associate Professor Gulzhan Ertlesova (MUA), Professor Chokan Baymukhamedov (SKMA), and others. They shared the results of their research and discussed the future of nephrology in the region.
Discussions covered modern approaches to diagnosing and treating chronic kidney disease, the importance of nutritional and metabolic support for patients, and innovative plastic surgery techniques for patients with morbid obesity at high risk of chronic kidney disease.
The regional nephrology conference at SKMA demonstrated the high level of nephrology research and strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration among specialists from different countries.
