Public Health: An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Problem of Tuberculosis and Depression
On March 19, a Republican Student Conference "Public Health: An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Problem of Tuberculosis and Depression" was held in a hybrid format (offline and online).
The conference was organized by: the School of Public Health at Al-Farabi KazNU, the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Evidence-Based Medicine at Asfendiyarov KazNMU, and the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, and Rehabilitation at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy. The participants of the conference included students and faculty of the School of Public Health, as well as the departments of the aforementioned universities.
At the conference, the acting associate professor of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, and Rehabilitation, PhD, psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and active member of the Kazakhstan CBT Association and the Association of Mental Health Specialists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Laura Aitzhanovna Sadykova, represented the South Kazakhstan Academy and delivered a presentation on the topic: "Mental Health in Tuberculosis: Depressive Disorders and Their Correction."
Laura Aitjanovna focused on the statistics of mental disorders from WHO, the Republic of Kazakhstan, recent scientific data, current issues of tuberculosis treatment in combination with depression, and highlighted the importance of the work of a multidisciplinary team in treating these comorbid conditions.
