Microbes in the Lab: Turning Bacteriological Research Results into Works of Art
The Department of Microbiology, Allergology, and Immunology at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy hosted an olympiad titled “Microbes in the Lab: Turning Bacteriological Research Results into Works of Art.”
Participants showcased microscopic research findings, the characteristics of bacterial growth in culture media, and their cultural properties through models, 3D designs, appliqué, and visual art techniques. Complex microbiological lab processes were presented through creative projects. The goal of the olympiad was to enhance students’ scientific interest by combining microbiological knowledge with creativity, and to encourage deeper understanding through artistic expression of research results.
The event brought together 20 students and 10 faculty members. This olympiad served as a unique platform where science and art intersected. Participants went beyond laboratory precision and successfully made microbiological concepts accessible to a broader audience. Such formats help future specialists develop skills in scientific communication and creative thinking.
