Meeting with International Students on the Topic “Gambling Addiction – A Behavioral Dependency”
On March 11, 2025, the university’s Psychological Service organized a meeting on the topic of “Gambling Addiction – A Passion for Games.” Academic psychologists Kalmagambetova B.K. and Opysheva A.Zh. led the discussion, emphasizing that gambling addiction is becoming one of the most dangerous dependencies today. They shared their insights on the harms of gambling and its potential risks to human life. International students learned about its types, dangers, and consequences. The event was organized by the university's psychological service specialists.
During the debate, students were divided into two groups: one argued that gambling is just a form of entertainment, while the other considered it an addiction. After a thorough discussion, the conclusion was reached that gambling addiction is a real dependency rather than just a game.
Afterward, students participated in a test to identify signs of addiction. The session concluded with a discussion on prevention measures and support systems.
