"I am a donor – I give hope to others"

Organized by the Department of Family Medicine at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, the intern-doctors of groups ІЖТДҚ-19-24 and ІЖТДҚ-27-24 held a blood donation campaign at the Shymkent City Blood Center under the theme “I am a donor – I give hope to others.”
Purpose of the event: Being a donor is not about heroism – it's about the kindness of the heart. Donation is an important way to save lives and improve health. Donating blood at blood centers gives every citizen the opportunity to show social responsibility and contribute to a meaningful cause. Intern-doctors can play an active role in promoting blood donation. This event was organized to share our experience and encourage others to become donors.
Benefits of being a donor:
• Health benefits: The process of blood donation helps to renew the body and improve blood circulation.
• Psychological satisfaction: The feeling of helping others and showing social responsibility contributes to personal spiritual growth.
• Medical check-up: Donors undergo a medical examination, allowing them to monitor their own health.
The blood donation process began with a medical check-up to ensure we were fit to donate. The blood donation itself took 10–15 minutes. During this time, special attention was given to the donor’s comfort and safety, with doctors closely monitoring the process. After donating blood, donors were offered special drinks and meals to help the body recover.
The intern-doctors witnessed the entire process—from the initial blood collection to its separation into components, storage, quality control, and delivery to patients—and received full information from the professionals. Every staff member is an unseen but real hero who saves lives every day.

Thoughts from the intern-doctors at the end of the event: As future doctors, we gained not only medical knowledge here, but also learned a lot about human values. Blood is a priceless resource that cannot be manufactured or artificially replaced. It can only be donated from one person to another. So being a donor is not just an act of heroism—it is a noble expression of humanity and compassion. Being a donor is a special feeling. Even if we are strangers to those we help, we are close at heart. We have chosen a path filled with kindness and humanity. We, too, can give someone the gift of life.
"Become a donor. You, too, can save a life!" – we call on everyone to continue this noble initiative.
