From 12 to 19 October 2026, Professor Gulzhan Nurbekovna Dosybayeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Head of the Department of General Medical Practice No. 2 at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, represented the Academy at Azerbaijan Medical University in Baku. The academic mobility programme took place at the Department of Family Medicine under the memorandum of cooperation between the two institutions.
During meetings with Orkhan Rasim oglu Isayev, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Professor Ibrahim Isa oglu Isayev, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Professor Dosybayeva discussed general practitioner training, curriculum content and prospects for academic exchange.

Professor G. N. Dosybayeva delivered a masterclass for sixth-year students entitled “Geriatrics and Gerontology. Population Ageing: Challenges and Prospects”, addressing the care and rehabilitation of older patients. A clinical role-play on the management of a 70-year-old patient with hypertension and diabetes mellitus helped students consolidate their knowledge.
For the department’s teaching staff, Professor Dosybayeva led a round-table discussion entitled “Modernising Education: The General Practitioner. Education, Practice and Research”, with particular attention to maintaining a practical skills logbook. The visit also included an introduction to the work of the university clinics and participation in clinical case discussions with students.

The professional exchange resulted in agreements to exchange teaching materials on geriatrics, jointly develop cases for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and prepare a joint publication. The academic mobility programme was completed in full, and Professor G. N. Dosybayeva was awarded a certificate of completion.
